Installation
Ten Cuidado is an installation made of cardboard, acrylic paint, thread, wooden balls, and beads. In Mexican culture, the evil eye, or el ojo, often refers to negative energy. Babies are believed to be at high risk from receiving threats from el ojo, so parents typically use a bracelet made with deer’s eye seeds to protect them. In this piece, I refer to the bracelet I once wore as a baby with the red and black beads/threads, and warn the viewer to be careful with the evil eyes.
